The best way to understand life coaching is to recognize what life coaching is not.
Here are four areas to identify a Certified Life Coaching
session:
1. Life Coaching
is Not
counseling or therapy. Those professions are important but the focus is more on looking back at your past pain. Whereas a Life Coach
focuses on moving forward and views the client as complete enough to start right where they are.
2. A masterful life coach has the ability to Ask Powerful Questions
that empowers the individual to discover their own sustainable solutions that lead to greater clarity on how they will accomplish a goal or dream. From there the coach incorporates accountability to see to it that they stay on track. It is similar to an olympic athlete having a coach that keeps him or her on schedule as they train before competition day.
3. A certified coach focuses on Action
with Measurable Results.
While a counseling session is more devoted to helping the client identify the underlying reasons for their conscious or unconscious behaviors. Life Coaches do not diagnose; that is the job of a therapist and other mental health professionals.
4. When working with a Life Coach, there is a Determined Timeframe
that the client signs on to accomplish their specific goals. It could be three, six months or a year. However, when it comes to therapy a client may seek an indefinite amount of time for support.
If you believe that you are not suffering from any past hurts or trauma and are ready to move forward with your goals and dreams you should consider a life coach. An elite life coach will help you identify some high level strategies that you already possess and take you beyond what you can imagine!
On the other hand, if you are still carrying around past hurts that you want to unravel, then therapy may be best for you.
